| Out of the Blue Limping
My 4 month old Pyrenees limped out of her crate this morning and I have no idea what she has done to herself!
She isn't whining, but just is limping. She had her dewclaws removed a week ago and was also spayed (still has the cone on her head), but she has been fine up until this morning.
Maybe she just slept on her leg wrong? Could she be growing? I just don't know..
We got to the vet on Thursday to get her stitches removed, so will definitely follow up with him.. but just curious now what it could be! |

It was the front right paw. I think one of her stitches was bothering her. But whatever it was.. she is fine now. We go to the vet tomorrow to get her stitches out, so I might just casually ask. | |

Just curious why you would have removed dew claws on a Pry, they are suppose to have dew claws. | |

Most likely, from the stitches . Could be growing pains (pano) . My dog's very clumsy and sometimes get a strain here and there.

Running on hard surfaces can also lead to limping due to the shock of hitting the pavement (no Nike Shox for Paws...yet...), or from the pads being injured either from the hard surface or stepping on something sharp. Can also lead to long-term problems with joints, tendons, etc., particularly in large breed or dogs that were run too hard too young. | |

Bubba didn't have a choice but to go as fast as the other two. So running we did. Next morning Bubba woke up with a limp but not in pain so I gave him a massage on his legs and body to see if anything felt out of place and he felt absolutly normal and fell asleep (he takes naps when he's being massaged  ). We took the doggies on their usual walk at 8:00 p.m. but kept it at a walk with a little jog along the way and Bubba didn't seem to mind. The limping hasn't completly gone away but he is doing alot better. I wasn't sure if it was the running that caused him his limp or if it was something else. Anyway, no need to get alarmed. He's doing good now but that is why i asked the question, thanks for the reply! | |

It was a matter of taking precaution. She isn't going to be a show dog, so it didn't really matter.
However, my vet ended up taking out her front dewclaws as well without my consent. Apparently when I said I wanted the 4 dewclaws taken off the hind legs (2 double ones), he took that as removing all the dewclaws on all 4 legs.
Needless to say.. we are changing vets. I am still angry. | |
