I am keeping a 10yr old Shih Tzu until he can be adopted . His owener was going to drop him off at the humane society so I took the dog until I can work with some rescue groups. I have not worked in 9 months so money is tight. I don't know much about the dog other than he has trust issues(he was wacked when bad and does not want to be grabbed by strangers) and he has been healthy. I just brought him over to my house on Sunday and I'm sure he is still stressed but doing better around me) The dog used to drink out of an outside pond and is getting finicky about bowls. He wont eat out of a bowl but if you dump it on the floor he will eat it. After 18 hours of not drinking I finally got the dog to drink but he was drinking very fast and alot. Very shortly after drinking he threw up gooey liquid which I assume was saliva and a little foam. I passed it off to stress. He did fine for 2 days and then today he threw up saliva twice today after drinking. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks.
sometimes dogs throw up bile when there is nothing for their stomach to digest. How often do you feed? If you don't already, try dividing his food into two meals and see if it helps. if it doesn't you should probably change his food or see a vet. then again, maybe e is just drinking to fast. a vet is always the safest way to know.
i know hes not drinking a lot, but when he does drink, dont let him take in a lot at one time. it sounds to me like hes just taking in too much water too fast, and spitting it back up.
