Arrow My puppy needs your help

I have a Cocker Spaniel that has a a skin condition around his ears. His skin is dry and very itchy. I took him to the vet several times for this condition and every time I leave, they give me a different prescription, and a bill of at least $120. Very frustrated !!!!!
The vet told us to use a shampoo and conditioner that doesn't contain any soap when bathing him, yet most of the shampoo's at the pets stores has soap in it.
Do you know of any product that can help my poor puppy?

No he did not. He just flushed his inner ears and told me that the dog will feel better.
he was quick to charge me $90 for a procedure that my dog never needed.
One thing though I noticed on Zuko (my dog's name) and that is it seems like he started to lose some hair around his nose and around his eyes. Also, when I took a closer look at his outer ears, I found out that under his hair and at the end of his ears I found what it looks like dandruff. I wounder if this is what's causing the constant itching and discomfort. Zuko constantly shakes his head and rubs his face on the carpet or any solid surface around him. I don't want to take him back to the three vets that already had seen him because I don't think they know what is wrong with him.

i would say your dog probably has mites or some kind of blockage inside the ear. cockers are also known for having bad ears and have to have them cleaned with ear cleaner and the hair removed from inside regularly.

if it were me i'd go to a different vet.

Re: My puppy needs your help

I get a soapless shampoo and ear cleanser from our vets office. It is a brand that is only sold in veterinary offices. It is in a white bottle with purple and green logos and text. It was not very expensive. If you use any type of flea treatment like Frontline you are supposed to use soapless shampoo which is why I purchase it and it works great.

I had a cocker spaniel and they are very prone to yeast infections in their ears due to moisture being caught since their ears flop over.

Not too long ago, my german shepherd puppy had a weird sore on his front elbow. At first it looked like a callous but then it got infected, and I had noticed a bald spot by his rear. Our vet said that mites can cause bald spots, but they don't consider it an infestation unless the dog has 8 or more spots. You can ask for them to scrape the skin and test for mites. Our puppy ended up ok, the sore healed up with antibiotics and the patch on his rear I think he had gotten a tuft caught in his wire crate and pulled it out in a fit of anxiety.

I could never find soapless shampoos at the pet stores.

Good luck!
