I Need Help...

My dog Frankie has something wrong with the skin on his back. I don't know what it is and have tired everything I can think of to make it better but nothing really works.

His hair on his back fell out and the skin is dry and there are these bumps that pop and bleed. I've tried Oatmeal Shampoo and Med Shampoo, I've put mineral oil on it to keep it from getting dry and that helps but dosen't make it go away. It hurts him to take a bath and if you touch his back.

It's not contagious becuase I have another dog, Benji, and nothing is wrong with him.

I can't bring him to the vet because it's too expensive right now. I tried to look for a free pet clinic around Houston but I didn't find any.

Can anybody help me or give me some ideas to help him??

Anything will help me. Thanks!!

Re: I Need Help...

If you are in Houston Texas, then the Houston SPCA will help you out either free of charge, or with a very lenient payment plan. I know this first hand, because my cousin had to do this with his dog, his problems were a bit more serious though. Contact the Houston SPCA and tell them your situation and ask about taking him in.

I dont want this to sound mean or offensive... but I would tell this to anyone, and I'm sure everyone on this forum would agree with me... next time you decide to get a dog, or any animal for that matter, remember that it is not just the initial buy fee. It is the food, the toys, the medications (if any) and MOST CERTAINLY the Veterinary bills (and this is for LIFE). If you cannot afford the veterinary bills if an accident or an illness were to come about, then you should think twice about having a dog. Again, I dont mean to be offensive, but maybe you will realize what I mean now that you are having this financial problem. The same would go if a child were to get sick, and they dont have insurance (they also have Pet Insurance) or any money to pay for the treatement. I hope you get ahold of the SPCA and all goes well.
