Mucous Stool

My 5 month old puppy is a chewer and loves to play "I have something that I am not supposed to have, now come get it."

He is still playful, eating and drinking, but just started having mucous covered stool. Every now and then, he will also cough up water after drinking. I just thought that he was excited, but now I am getting worried. He is a pug mix with boston and has a short nose.

Any advice on the mucous stool? I will call the Vet if this is serious.

Thank You

Re: Mucous Stool

Bring a fecal sample into the vets office---have them check for parasites and be sure that they check for Giardia as well.

Re: Mucous Stool

Benny had the same thing happen to him. Started out as mucous stools, ended up as diarrhea and mucous.
Took him to the vet for tests. Turned out to be a parasite. He went on an antibiotic and got better. Then it came back again a few weeks later. Back on the antibiotics.
Seems much better now. Hopefully it gone! gone! gone!!!!
Take the pup to the vet.
