Frontline Plus/Heartguard Allergic reactions

I am wondering if anyone has heard of any allergic reactions to Frontline Plus or Heartguard. I have a 5 year old Chocolate Lab with allergies. Symptoms seem to be worse within a week of giving him these medications. He licks and bites his paws until the hair as gone and bleeding. Rubs/scratches his face on the ground or whatever he can rub on to the point of hair loss and bleeding.

His allergies seem to be non exsistant during the winter, which is almost upon us here in Minnesota. We usually stop the Frontline in the winter.

Any help would be graetly appreciated.

Dogs, like people, can be allergic to anything. I'm allergic to Ivory Soap.

If you believe it's either of those products, try switching to different flea & heartworm preventatives, like Advantage or Advantix for fleas or fleas/ticks, and Interceptor for heartworm.

Have you contacted your vet about your concerns?

I have talked to a few Vets about this and they don't think this could be the problem. We have been dealing with this for a couple of years and thought I would reach out on the WWW. We have used Advantage and just switched to the Frontline/Heartgaurd combination this spring.

I'm far from being an expert on dog health, but I know with people and health conditions, it's process of elimination and 2nd opinions that narrow down problems.

Get another opinion from a different vet.

Rule out the itching by simply stopping use of those products and try something else. Or stop use of those one at a time.

Hope your poor dog doesn't suffer too long.
