Liver Cancer in Bichon Frise

Hi! I have a serious question that I have been trying to get answered for the past three months. My beautiful 3 year old "baby" Shashi, a Bichon, was diagnosed with liver cancer and had to be euthanized. As far as I have seen by research, Bichons are not prone to cancer. Also liver cancer is very rare in such young dogs of all breeds. I was wondering if there is anyone who has had a similar experience with a Bichon or if anyone knows what could have caused such a devastating illness in a dog so young. Please respond because my heart is broken. I have another Bichon puppy, but am afraid to get close to her for fear of another heartbreak.
Thank you!

Thumbs up

First let me say that I am sorry to hear about you loss. It is a horrible thing to go through, but like you.. when I lost my last dog, I did get 2 more and it does help ease the pain. Everyone said I was crazy to go through it all again, but the love that they give you is worth the pain and loss we feel in the end of their time w/ us. Don't keep yourself from falling in love with your new little one. Would a mother love another child less just because she lost one before.... ?? I don't think so. this puppy deserves all the love you can give. Time does make things easier, the pain doesn't completely go away, but it does get less. Just remember good times and look forward to your good times ahead.

good luck
