Hi this is the first time I have visited this site I found it while looking for what could be wrong with my dog. He is a year old pitt. He wont gain weight. He looks like he has not eaten in weeks but he eats all the time. He has been to two different vets and they cant find out what is wrong with him. He had been wormed three times and his worm check came back neg. He eats Bil-Jac select dog food. for his weight The bag reccomends to feed him two cups a day but we feed him 4. Other than him not gaining weight he is healthy and playful. The vet wants to worm him again but that is pointless with the worm check comeing back neg. and he was just wormed last week with pancure. Thanks for any input on this it has got me really puzzled. I have had dogs all my life and have never had this happen.
I'd be looking for a second opinion. He may have some sort of digestive insufficiency. He may need some extra enzymes etc, to help him actually utilize the food he gets. Make enquiries to see if there is a well respected vet or specialist in your area that you can take him to, for a second opinion.
I too would get a second opinion. I can see why they would think a tapeworm would be the logical issue, but if its not there its not there. Second opinions are good. Do some research on vets in your area.
