Gas problems...

I am in the process of switching my dogs to Nutro Max and am wondering if the change could be causeing the gas. Also is there anything I can give them to help with the problem?

Yes, it could be causing the gas. It takes time for the micro-organisms in your dog's belly to adjust to a new food source. I'm not sure if there's anything you can give him, someone else may know, but if anything I would switch over more slowly.

Right now I am only giving 1/3 cup new food and remaining 2 cups of old food. She has also been takeing worm meds we finished them yesterday could that cause it?

Gas is probably from the food change. I'd avoid dairy unless you KNOW your dog isn't lactose intolerant. In my experience, dairy makes gass worse in dogs. I doubt the wormer has anything to do with the gas. I've never had luck with dogs on Nutro (bad poops, gas, explosive Diarrhea, weight loss)..I've always thought it was a greyhound thing since they can have sensitive tummies. But, it could just be the new food doesn't agree with your dog.

I'd give it a bit more time.

My mixed breed, Pippin, had terrible gas when he was younger. My vet suggested that I add Prozyme to Pippin's food to help him better absorb the nutrients in his food. It seemed to help some, but Pippin never ate his kibble consistently enough for me to tell for sure if that was what fixed the gas. Pippin's on a raw diet now, and rarely has gas unless I feed him fish -- then he turns the air green!
