Yay!!

If I were capable of doing a back flip right now I would. I took Gauge to the vet this morning for his microfilarae check up. The vet said he can be let loose and play and exercise. We do go back in February to re-test for the heartworms. Hopefully, the treatment worked fully. He is a totally different dog now, one who can breath normally and isn't coughing and gagging. I am so glad that I don't have to keep ruining his fun now.

Re: Yay!!

Hooray for Gauge! Hopefully all is smooth sailing from here on.

Of course, you will have to deal with a much more energetic dog now!

Re: Yay!!

Oh definitely! I want to build his cardio strength back up slowly, but he has different ideas. I took him on a short 1/2 mile walk yesterday and he was like "is that all you got? hmpf!" He was so happy to get to play and walk without me stopping him.

Re: Yay!!

That's wonderful to hear that his Difil test was negative. Make sure he stays on a quality heartworm preventative every month from now on to keep those heartworm infections from returning.
