Mast Cell Tumor...please help

Rosie had a cyst a few months ago and the vet said it was fine, not cancerous and drained it. She said it would keep filling up until it was removed. Well, this morning it was large (as in overnight). And I took her to the vet today and they aspirated but no fluid drained and it was harder. The cells in the aspiration showed mast cells today.

Because it's on her foreleg they said it's in a very tough position and I asked to see a specialist.

Has anyone dealt with this cancer in this spot? Did you're dog recover? I know we wont know how bad it is until they remove it but...

I am completely a wreck. This dog is my heart.

I don't know about mast cell cancer, but as you know my Perry was diagnosed with GI lymphoma, so we both can hope for some answers together. Let's hope real hard, we need it!

I hope some more people chime in and can maybe shine some light? I know these cancers are not rare and it would be nice to hear from others! Hope you get some answers soon.

I'm currently in limbo with you guys as my baby is going for surgery to biopsy a strange looking mark on his skin. I am trying not to think about the bad and neither should you - wait until you have something to worry about. I wrote a whole long post about melanoma in the food section (by accident) as that's what I'm dealing with right now with my "son".

The only thing I can say to help is DO NOT VACCINATE them right now no matter what the vet says and if they want to do it, go to a vet that won't require it for health reasons. Their immune systems need all the help they can get and that would only tax it more. Also, try to give them some vitamin C as that has been shown to help with instances of cancer. There is a great book called "Dr. Pitcairn's New Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats" which you may want to look at for more advice from a vet.

Also, if you've not done it yet, change their diet from dog food to natural food (not necessarily raw, but natural) to give the body the vitamins and nutrients it needs at this difficult time. The book also talks about why that's important.

Mini- the aspiration showed cancer so we know what were dealing with just not on what level until we get the tumor back. So the waiting is pretty tough.

I didn't realize about vaccinations and such. Unfortunately Rosie went for her yearly and got lots of vaccines.

She's on a quality food with no fillers or preservatives. I will look into the vitamin C. I will look for that book.
