Worried...

Hi, thanks for looking.

My dog is 5 1/2 now and has been potty trained for a very long time, in fact I can't even remember the last time she "messed" in the house. I brought my son's car seat in the house last night from my Mom's car (thought I would clean it out before putting it back in my car... you know, crumbs and stuff). Later in the evening, my husband goes to move the car seat and liquid comes out of it! Down on the seat corner is a very damp spot... and smells horridly of the worst pee smell ever! (EVER!)

My son is potty trained, but doesn't know how to put his pants back on and his pants were still on, so we know it wasn't him. We don't have cats and my husband doesn't just go peeing on things (he's potty trained, too!)

My question is this: why would she (Pele) pee not only in the house, but on the car seat? It's slightly elevated and she usually squats to pee. And it was a lot of liquid. So, she didn't stop herself either. I even tried to think if my son had a liquid that spilled onto the car seat... nope, all sippy cups (and he had either orange juice or milk in those cups).

Also, she spends most of her day outside. Please help! We don't really have the money to take her to the vet right now.

Poor urinary health could be a cause for frequent and unexpected peeing. If the problem persists, your dog needs to go to a vet. Stress can cause a dog to eliminate unexpectedly. Stress can be anything from new people in the home, a change in her daily routine, or even subtle things like maybe a strange animal or cat visits your fence. Lack of exercise can cause a dog to pee unexpectedly. Your dog may have plenty of room to eliminate in the backyard, but nothing stimulates elimination more than new smells on a nice walk. And it could have been a bad doggie day for her...an accident. I say in the next few days you should take her for a brief walk before she comes in the house or before any car rides, and monitor her elimination habits. I hope this helps.

This does help! I just don't understand why on the car seat. Like a cat marking it's territory. She's really good at letting us know that she has to "go outside". So, it's just confusing and that's why I thought something was wrong.
