my dog is looking at a blood transfusion

This is my first posting. My dog Aspen may possibly have a blood transfusion on monday. She has always been healthy and I have always kept her on a holistic health plan. (I should follow her example

) I am scared to death. Can anyone lend some words.

I'm sorry you're in such a scary situation. Why does Aspen need a transfusion?

A friend's brother's dog had to have transfusions well over a year ago, and she's doing great. I don't remember the details, but it was on an emergency basis. She goes to the vets to have her packed cell volume checked every few weeks just to make sure there's no further problems. But really, you'd never know there was ever anything wrong with her.

Please hang in there with me, I am verycomputer iliterate. thanks for responding. Aspen is anemic and it is apparently quite serious.

Her blood cell count is down along with her eloctrolytes and hemogloban. I'm not sure how serious a transfusion is with dogs. I have researched Merck Vet. Manuel; It only tells you so much. My biggest concern is that she is very confused these days and I wonder if Animia causes that or if she has had a mini stroke.
