tap water for dogs

How many of you still give your dog unfiltered tap water? I`ve been surprised to find that many people still do this, even though they provide filtered water for themselves.Yes,even I used to do it,but I stopped.I cant seem to convince my stepmother though.Anyway, for those that didnt know, unfiltered tap water is too high in chlorine/chloramines and other substances, including heavy metals.Long term consumption can have health effects, including bladder cancer and premature kidney disease. There are a few solutions.Filling your own water bottle, using a pitcher or faucet filter,or having an undersink filter.Dont buy pre-bottled water because bottled water standards arent what they should be as far as source and purity, its also expensive and generates too much plastic bottle waste to throw away. You folks may already know this, but just in case you dont, here it is.

re:tap water for dogs

Agreed. We always provide filtered water for our dogs, even at the local park.We have most of our friends and neighbors doing the same.

I've never really thought about this.... I always figured they drink rainwater, so how bad can tapwater be? But I guess your point about the heavy metals and chlorine makes sense.
