Breeding Question

Hi everyone

Out of curiosity, if a bitch will not accept a stud when she is in heat, will she possibly accept him in any of her future cycles?

Before you all get on the spay neuter soapbox, this is being done carefully and both dogs are healthy and have good breeding history. Unless their litter excedes 6 pups, all have a home to go to. They are chihuahuas which rarely exceed a little of six anyways!

I've bred in the past once with a shetland sheepdog, but we simply dropped her off with a stud and the deed was done. Could this rejection possibly be due to the fact that the dogs live together and the bitch is more dominant?

I've asked our vetrinarian but I'm not getting much help due to the fact she is VERY anti-breeding.

How old is she, sometimes when a female is to young for breeding they will do this. And sometimes it just the way they are. If your female is at the right age for breeding than you probably could hold her still for the male.
