Question HA or Chondroitin?

My dog recently tore his anterior cruciate ligament and is scheduled to get a TTA. I know that any tearing around joints can kick start arthritis, and I would like supplement something for joint health. I am trying to decide what will be better for my big boy; glucosamine+HA (hyaluronic acid) or glucosamine+chondroitin. I have tried reading up on it but it is a bit confusing. HA works quickly with joint fluid, but glucosamine+chondroitin helps over time to repair tissue and cartilege. Anyone have any ideas??

Re: HA or Chondroitin?

I heard recently from an orthopedic doctor I respect that glucosamine+chondroitin is a waste of money - at least for humans. He recommends the glucosamine without the chondroitin and advises not to expect much in the way of results for three months.

Of course, he was talking about humans.

For dogs I'm not sure, but I know for humans to maximize absorption you need glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM
