I luv fishies. I've always wanted a clown fish or an angel fish but I've only managed to have 2 betas and a couple gold fish so far. Hopefully in the future I'll get my clownfish tho

Re: Fish Lovers?

I have a Beta now. I have had them for about 10 yrs. 1 dies then I get another. Right about now though I am really sick of him. Dont worry he is too far away to read this. I do not think I will get another on any time soon. The longest I have had one live for is 3 yrs. I heard in the wild they live in mud puddles.

I like to look at fish but unless I was rich and famous and could have someone else take care of the tank I will stick to just dogs

Re: Fish Lovers?

Yeah. It takes a while to get the tank set up before you even get the fish.
As long as you know what your doing it's not to bad though. Theres all type of salt water plants you can get, like aneminies(sp?) and coral wich makes it more like home for the fish.

Fish! I'm a Siamese Fighting fish fanatic. =) I have a little girl named Moonlight, and a little boy named Bishou. =) Bishou is a veiltail (meaning his tail flows out and down like a veil), and Moon is a Plakat, which are the fighter types. =) I have them now in a 10 gal tank with their snails. =)

Re: Fish Lovers?

I had a 30 gallon freshwater tank for several years, but when I moved, I decided to dismantle it and stop. I miss having fish, and hope to have an aquarium again sometime in the future. It was so relaxing.

I had various species, but in the end I stuck with redeye tetras and hatchetfish, and both did really, really well together. My tank had a lot of real plants in it, and it looked beautiful.

I had a separate three gallon tank for a betta.

Man didn't think I was going to run into a fancy goldfish owners. I absolutly love the lionhead's and ranchu's. I have two lionheads (org. & white and cali.)at my house who are very attached to each other.

At my boyfriends house we have 5 ranchu's in a 46 gal bowed tank and one giant golden apple snail and in a 20 gal we have a ranchu (red and white)and a ryukin (calico). I really like their personalities they are so sweet and rush to the front to see me

Do any of your lionheads has swim bladder, my large calico has it real bad i pretty much asked the store if i could buy him cheap and try to fix it myself. He does have a better life here but still cant keep his balance. Any sugestions.

try using maracyn antibiotics i think its by a company named mardel it comes in blue boxes or blue label bottle. Diffrent kinds for diffrent problems read the package to find what kind you need some products can be used together. Its really the only product that fixes my fish. and do at least 1/3 water change every week that is really inportant for the fishes health. THere are also products to boost immune systems. Salt (read dosage)for one helps I have fancy goldfish and use it all the time and i use kordon's nova aqua + water conditioner weekly to help slime layer and immune system(this you can't over dose). Some meds need carbon filters removed, it takes out the meds.

I just had a scare, bought two very small pearlies and one died the first week acted very slow. THe other developed white fungus or bacteria on body. That one died too. But my other fish fought it off and are fine now. I will never again add anything to the talk no matter how cute.
BTW don't your fighting fish fight?
Aren't thosethe same thing as betta's?

Re: Fish Lovers?

I actually -did- look at Maracyn today, and neither of them worked for internal parasites. I ended up picking up some Jungle Anti-Parasite Medicated Fish Food, though.

I'm still waiting for diagnosis conformation from my betta forum, though, before I begin any sort of treatment.

Don't be worried about it. I won't hold you accountable for anything, especially if I already think they have issues. They are petstore fish, they came with issues. =) So don't be nervous; I'm not going to be upset at you, or anything, if something happens. =P

Yeah i love my fishies. I want to get a chocolate oranda and an orange one but i have been trying to get the time to set the hospital tank up so i have something to put them in to make sure they are not sick, before i put them in the big tank. I have had my black moor and lion head for 3 years now. My black moor is about 7 inches long and my lion head is just massive. No i have never had any problem with swim bladder. My fish eat pea's out of my hands. They are so cool.
