| Scoutie I've never shown her off.
Meet Scout, the mosaic chinchilla. She's almost 4 years old and quite the snuggler I might add. Nikki adores her.
She's pretty cute, isn't she? |

| Re: Scoutie Very cute. I wa watching Barking Mad this morning on animal planet, and they had two of these little guys living with eachother. One male, and one female. I guess the male was too pushy for the female (go figure), and they had to figure a way out to keep them from bickering. I never realized how much energy these guys can have. They'd make for gread evening tv for Elsa, lol. |

| Re: Scoutie Oh she's is so cute! I don't have any experience with Chinchillas, but I have always thought they were the coolest little guys! One day I plan to have one..I agree with Curb, Bridgette would also enjoy a chinchilla to watch! |

| Re: Scoutie Chins are cool creatures. We've had two, but our hetero beige male (Smokie) died of a genetic defect in his intestinal tract (we think, some sort of digestive defect at least) when he was 2. They're so much fun, but a lot more work than many of the other rodents I've had. They're also a potentially looooong commitment. They can live for a very long time- I know someone with a 9 year old chin and another person with an 18 year old one.
We do give her dust baths a lot. They're pretty fun to watch.
Nikki loves Scout. She treats her like a baby and sits upstairs all the time watching her. Scout's spoiled, she has two cages in our house. One large one upstairs and one smaller one downstairs so she can come hang with us some.
I'd love to get another one eventually, but if I do I want to find a rescue this time. A lot of people seem to not know what they're getting into when they get them- expecting a creature like a hamster instead of something this interactive and long term. They end up dumped quite often.

My guinea pig lived longer than most do, Hedwig was around 5-6 when she passed away (maybe older because we weren't sure how old she was when we got her).
I also had a rabbit...he was A LOT of work though too. He was tiny when I got him, but he grew very quickly into a HUGE guy (they also told me he was a girl when I got him lol). He was very needy, but very strong and always jumped at the chance to run away from you! LOL. |
