the calico cats

well the one that is pregnant is EVIL...she is too far along to spay and abort the litter. Im thinking she is being pissy because
1. she was in that home for a year
2. she is close to having these kittens and is now in a strange place
3. she is scared

her sister on the other hand is doing great. she had a litter of kittens, that looks like she recently weaned.

couple questions:

what can i do for Bella to make her more comfy? I put her in the laundry room with a food/water and litter box and a nice sized box to have the babies in. No other cats can get into this room since i closed the door. She will attack you if you walk in the room and walk near her. I dont want to stress her to the point that she has the kittens due to stress.

the pic is of kayla.

Re: the calico cats

Perhaps a DAP diffuser would help her. I would NOT shut her away though, it could make things worse especially since you need to get the kittens used to human interaction. It's most likely fear that's got her likethis, so put the other kitties away (with the possible exception of her sister) sit on the floor with some chicken and hand feed her, rewarding her for approaching you and being friendly. Every time you approach her birthing and she doesn't act out, reward her with some chicken. It's just like working with a fearful dog.

ive been in the room with her today. she is hiding behind the hot water tank hissing at me. she slapped her poor sister who promptly ran out the room and under the couch(where she is at this minute). Still waiting for the spca to get back to me about where to go from here. as soon as i get her to realize that im not g oing to hurt her and to trust me iwill take a pic of her.

It's just going to take time, just be patient. If she has a history of being an affectionate cat she'll return to her old ways once she's adjusted. Of course Cali's have a reputation for being the 'redheads' of the cat world you know temperamental, bossy, ect (I'm a redhead and proud of it!)

Re: the calico cats

Not to scare you, but some serious illnesses cause extreme anger in cats. I have known of two cats. One was a stray who was assumed to be feral. She ended up having an incurable disease she was dying of. It was messing with her brain chemistry. The second cat would be sweet as pie, then attack with severity. An animal behavior specialist worked with her, but was severely bitten out of the blue after it looked like she was making progress. This cat also had something wrong with her.

It may not be anything you are doing. If she continues to have outlashes, consult your vet or know that there may be an underlying issue that's changing her personality.
