Cat showing High Degree of Good manners and Smarts!

I keep saying Oliver is one of the smartest cats I have ever owned and I have had plenty of cats.

Today I took Atka to the Park and trained her. I put treats (good stuff.. Spam and Fresh Cooked liver) in a cheap sandwhich baggy and put them in my pocket.

I got back and OMGosh the Time.. had to pick up my neighbor for church and in the rush COMPLETELY forgot the treats in the Vest Pocket.

Back home, and almost 2 hours later, sitting on the 'puter and her comes Oliver... with the Treat Baggie in his mouth held by the top.. bringing it to me. Not chewed open. Not a mess.

He laid it at my feet and looked at me and meowed. His "can I have one" voice too.

OF COURSE I gave him some treats. WHAT A GOOD KITTY. If ANY dog (and most cats) had made that discovery you can bet the bag would have been eaten or chewed and the treats all gone.

Hahaha that's hilarious. It wouldn't have lasted 30 seconds in my house.

Re: Cat showing High Degree of Good manners and Smarts!

Then the dog did something really good today too.

I went up to my Parents to do some work for my Mom. She came outside but she said she wanted to get my Dad up (Alzheimers). Atka can get him to respond so we went in the house and by golly Dad was not in the house. In the 5 minutes it took my Mom to put on her coat to come outside, he had (in his pajamas) gone out another door of the house.. and we had no idea where he went. The live on 100 acres of woods surrounded by more woods. Dad wears a GPS locator bracelet.

So I told Atka to find her "Grandfather.." and she did.. right up by the old chicken house. She brought him back and he went in and got dressed and came back outside while I worked. Atka did her herding thing and ran around counting every one and when Dad went back in the house she let me know by repeatedly going back to the door where she last saw him.

I am very pleased with my animals today. They are just the best on earth.

What lovely stories Elana!
Sometimes our animals are so much more than we could have ever imagined.

My dad has Alzheimers too, and isn't it funny when he's having a good day he always asks about the dog. Such a sad disease watching one of your parents stricken with this illness
