What other animals do you like?

My (obviously) favorite animal is the dog. I also love any animal related to dogs. I LOVE wolves and after seeing some amazing ones at the zoo have fallen in love with African Wild Dogs.

Aren't they just gorgeous??

Other than canines I really like horses and cats.

Re: What other animals do you like?

I love so many animals but for pets i've learned that along with a dog I have to have birds, I grew up with a cockatiel and then i tried parakeets they were to loud for me and went with another cockatiel, he's not really into my family me and my boys are a little too loud for him I think so i would love to get a bigger cage and get a female for him.

When my husband and I were first married we had a chinchilla he was awsome! I also had a hedgehog he was the coolest but he died only after one week .

I think when we have a bigger house we'll also get a cat my youngest son seems to really like and my husband is more a cat person then dog person.

Re: What other animals do you like?

I love all animals to some degree, but horses and dogs top the list. Well, cats too. My zoo has 7 springer spaniels, 7 cats, three horses (2 paint, one QH) and will eventually have a couple of goats.

Wolves...pretty to look at, no fun to live near.

True, very true. I also have heard Wolf Hybrids (is that what their called) are very dangerous and if they are like 1/4 wolf they are still dangerous and unpredictable.

The wolf crosses can be very good pets...sometimes. And sometimes they revert to being wolflike in the most inopportune moments. In a town near us a few years ago a family had two wolf crosses that had been pets for many years. No one in the area had ever had a problem with these dogs, and this is ranch country, lots of livestock and opportunities for problems. Well one day these two wolf crosses got out and went for a run. They ran down, killed and partially ate two llamas. The dogs were euthanized.

I'm not a fan of wolf crosses, I think it's wrong to take a wolf and cross it with a dog and expect it to be a dog. Not fair to the wolf in his system, that part of him wants to be a wolf, not a dog. Out here, in ranch country, any dog caught chasing livestock will usually be shot on sight. My dogs are birddogs, only way they'd take notice of a cow is if the cow sprouted wings (LOL) but I make sure they know better anyway.

Re: What other animals do you like?

One of my dogs is a wolf Hybred and he has and is one of the best dogs I have ever had. My mares love him to death and he protects every baby on the property for cats pups and even the foals. He is now 17 and I have had him since he was 4.

Yeah, I say if you want a dog that looks like a wolf, get a Siberian Husky or Alaskan Malamute!!
