| Re: parakeets I've never had a budgie, however I do have other birds. I think budgies are adorable! Especially when there are several of them together, they're very entertaining to watch |

| Re: parakeets What types of birds do you have? I thought about getting a bigger parrot but I just love how cute and small these guys are. The bigger guys are awesome but these tiny little budgies have won my heart! I cannot wait to get another. There is a breeder in town who doesn't breed for any particlar color so you never know what she is gonna hatch! My Azul is one of her babies and he is awesome! Just a little chatterbox...he cat calls, makes "kissing" noises, chirps, clicks, screeches and has a garbled pretty bird. I can't wait until he says more! |

| Re: parakeets I used to spend a LOT of time on parrot forums & saw lots of pictures & videos of peoples budgies & they always made me smile they were SO cute - their little voices going a mile a minute some times Always thought I'd LOVE to have an aviary full of budgies of every color! I realize they wouldn't probably be quite as people friendly, but that's OK. But-no more birds for me thanks!
The oldest pet in my household is Poppy, a cockatiel who is going on 17 yrs old, I got him & his partner when they were weened. Sadly, we lost his partner when he was 7
I have added Manu, a 7 yr old b&g macaw; Jennie, a 4 yr old senegal; & Kewi, a 5 or 6 yr old orange wing amazon. They're all VERY special in their own way! And a riot to live with! |

| Re: parakeets I had a Budgie when I was a teen. I also had an aussie at the same time. The bird would spend a lot of time on the back of the aussie grooming the dog. However my wife and current aussie are not really into birds. Well the aussie is but not in the good way. |

| Re: parakeets Oh, my aussie paid NO attention to my birds whatsoever, except to go around vacumming up crumbs, lol! DJ never has either. But, I really never give them any opportunities either. I am worried about my newest dog, a GSP mix, so the birds all have to stay in their room now, or come into the other rooms when dogs are outdoors.
Charis, how old is your Azul? I would love to see pictures! |

| Re: parakeets I used to have 2 budgies when I was younger, but right now I have a Peach faced lovebird named MuShu, he is a joy and such a crack up, and so friendly. He is quite the riot to live with, but right now because my SO is working and living four hours away and MuShu is with him so I really miss my little MuShyShushu |

| Re: parakeets DJs mom, my dear sweet baby Azul is right at a year old. I had parakeet growing up as a kid...he lived to be 9 years old. I was birdless for about 5 years and then my sweet azul came along. I actually got him, his sister an albino named angel and a brother named baby. both baby and angel died about 2 months after I got them. I have no idea what happened to them. They were fine when I went to work and dead when I returned a few hour later. They were all raised in the same environment, lived in the same room, ate the same food, drank the same water and got to play in the same spots. Yet two died and Azul lives on. So I've just kinda accepted it as I was blessed to have them when I did and miss them now.
how old are you babies? |

| Re: parakeets We love parakeets here. :-) We used to have a couple, but when we moved we rehomed them.
They are so cheerful and we plan on getting more later on, |

| Re: parakeets I had several growing up, then in high school I hand fed my cockatiel, Sparticus. I like parakeets they're really cute, but I prefer a slightly bigger bird that I can play with. My husband has a sun conure named Dudley (although Duds likes me better now a days)
Sparticus LOVES Tanner and follows him around doing all his happy whistles Tanner just tries to get away, but tolerates it. He'll even let Sparticus ride on his back if he has a sweater or a harness on. Buster just bounces in front of Sparticus but leaves him alone most of the time. The only pet I have to worry about is the evil Fuzzy (cat). |

| Re: parakeets We have one.. her name is Trixie and she's Albino and can't fly.. We don't know why.. I guess she just never learned.. She can flap her wings and fall though :-) I had two others before her... Tekie was my first parakeet.. I got him 10 years ago.. and then I got Trixie shortly after as a companion for him.. Tekie liked people.. Trixie.. um.. never did.. She's always been terrified of us.. :-( Tekie died when he was 2.. we don't know what happened... one day I came home and he was lying dead on the floor of the cage.. Trixie didn't seem affected by his death at all.. which I thought was odd... but they never really played together or anything.. Anyway a few months later we got another parakeet... his name was Mikki.. he was also a sweetie.. really loved people.. he liked to be held and let out to fly.. But again.. Trixie and Mikki never really played together at all.. Mikki died when he was 3... We found him the same way we found Tekie.. :-( Now we have just Trixie, and she seems completely content to not have any other birds with her... She just turned 9 on the 17th :-)
Here she is:
Sorry that one is so blurry.. I had to take that picture fast.. She leaped off my hand moments later.. |

| Re: parakeets I know its says Parakeets or budgies, but I am going to post some pictures of MuShu my lovebird.
MuShu acts like a big parrot in a small parrot body! and he loves to cuddle with you
This was when he was a month old, after a bath
Cuddling in Tylers hair
More recent, he has a thing for my glasses |

| Re: parakeets Yes, and females will look 'flakey' where males will look 'waxy', They don't usually develop their color until they are a few years old though.. So when they are young, they all look to be female. |
