You just use pure ammonia to get it to cycle, rather than actual fish making ammonia. It's a lot safer for the fish. =) You can also add things from other, already-cycled tanks, such as filter media or dripping, gravel, ect.

1 male dwarf gourami in a 2.5 gallon tank (quarantine ONLY, VERY TEMPORARY!)

Nice pic of your quaker! I wish my parrot could fly sometimes. But then, it is convenient that she/he can't sometimes too. Either ay, nice timing!

OK, I have a zoo:
3 dogs---Penny, a female Border Collie (?) mix about 5 years old; Toby, a male Golden/GSD (?) mix about 7-8 years old; and Moose, a male purebred Rott about 5 years old.
8 cats---Scotty, Dusty, Scrappy, Sammy (males), and Silka, Bitsy, Dakota, and June (females), Scotty and Dakota are about 8 years old, the others are about 5 years old, except for June, who is about 4 months old
2 ferrets---Pogo (male) and Bumper (female), about 6 years old
2 rabbits---Clover and Pansy (both female), about 2 years old
1 female mouse (unnamed)
4 Russian Tortoises (3 females, 1 male) (unnamed)
40-ish hermit crabs (unnamed except for the largest, Eduardo)
2 Tiger Salamanders (unnamed)
3 fancy goldfish in a 55g tank
1 male Betta, 4 cory catfish, and some small snails in a 12g tank
All mammals are spayed/neutered, except for Pansy (hard to find a good rabbit vet) and June (spay appointment in 2 weeks). Oh, and the mouse. I don't think that's safe .

2 cats, Hunter and Nikita
2 red-Bellied toads in a 20 gallon vivarium getting ready to undergo an overhaul (adding a glass divider for a seperate "pond" and a waterfall)
3 minnows and 2 snails from a lake, living happily with the toads
crickets... though they aren't pets

I just picked up a Betta for a "Fish in Space" dealie

Got some new pets recently, and plan to get a few more today...Two of the cats are mine, the tiels are mine, all of the fish and frogs are mine. The other cats and budgies are my parents'.

~7 cats: Sassy, Sophie, Kiara, Abby, Bellona, Newbie, Stratus. Ages ranging from 11 years old to a year and three months old. Sassy and Stratus are "mine". Newbie is my sister's, but we're keeping her for the year.
~3 cockatiels: Amante, Ky, Chloe
~2 budgies: Sky and Sunny, males. (also my parents')
~2 betta fish, sharing a divided 10 gallon tank: Rosette (female combtail) and Banana (male halfmoon)
~2 african dwarf frogs, yet unnamed until I can figure out who is who
~1 dwarf gourami: Rami (male)
~1 peppered cory catfish: unnamed (buying more today, and I'll name them all when I can tell them apart. ;D)

Just cuious how you pronounce Kiara?

When naming my daughter we considered both Kiera (hubby's fav) and Kiara pronounced Key-Arah which was my top pick but we eventually landed on Zoe. Just curious how you pronounce Kiara, is it the same? I have never heard anyone else use it that way before but I love it.

Yup, said the same. We actually named her after the daughter or Simba, in the Lion King 2. My niece named her. =P

I just bought three more catfish and another betta a few days ago. Bettas name is Asura. She's really cute and naughty (is eating all the food she can get her grubby little fins on).

Besides my dogs, Max and Abby, we have 2 birds. Mikey, who is 7, is a Cockatiel. Bird-Daisy(my son, at the time, wanted to name her, "bird". I, on the other hand, wanted to name her, "daisy". So, we combined!), is 9, and she is a Love Bird. They are the lights of my life~I'd be lost without them!
