| Updated Pics ~ Freshwater Planted Aquarium Haven't posted any fish pics for a while, so I had a little mini photo op after my big water change today. Didn't get any of the Betta tank though except one pic of the Otocinclus in there, as it's currently chock full of Java Moss that I'm selling tomorrow.
Anyway, here's my 29 Gallon planted tank...
The little Amazon sword are actually from my big sword on the left -- growing them out for sale as well.
My Siamese Algae Eater:
With a few of the Neon Tetras (there are actually 8 NTs in the tank):

One of the male Bolivian Rams:
You can see I have a bit of an algae problem -- been leaving my lights on too long:
Two of the Rams are going to be moved out of this tank soon, to prevent overstocking when the fish are adults as I have four in there right now:

Plucking a bit of food off the surface...it's hard to tell but the piggy actually had 3 pieces bundled there:
Enjoying the cucumber:

| Re: Updated Pics ~ Freshwater Planted Aquarium My latest addition, who I just moved over from the quarantine tank today...a koi angelfish. S/he's currently only about 1 1/4" long (not counting tail), so has some serious growing to do:
Named "Bruiser" for his black eye and jaw on this side, lol. The red gill is likely due to translucent scale there, and should go away as he ages: |

| Re: Updated Pics ~ Freshwater Planted Aquarium Finally, one of the Apple/Mystery Snails...this guy's about 1/2" in diameter now (they all started out as about 1/16")
Some of the Malaysian Trumpet Snails:
And last but not least, the Oto from the Betta tank, as I forgot to get picks of the ones in the big tank:
That's all, thanks for looking |

| Re: Updated Pics ~ Freshwater Planted Aquarium Nice aquarium! Keep an eye on the shrimp & neons as the angel get bigger, they may become a snack. I never was any good at plants, then again I never really went at it with a definite plan of attack. Most of my tanks are bare bottomed, angel breeding setup.
That redness to the gill plate is a koi trait, and they often lose the translucence as the grow. Koi are technically gold marble blushers, the translucent gill plate is the blush. |

It will be a while before I have to worry about the neons and shrimp, as the neons are nearly as long as the angel right now, and the shrimp as big as the angel. I'm hoping the neons end up falling under that whole "if the angelfish grow up around them they might not think of them as food" thing...but we will see. The idea is that the ample hiding places and line-of-sight barriers will help curb the aggression...but I have a spare tank for a reason, so i can fall back on that at least temporarily if there gets to be a problem. Thanks though
I used "koi" because it is the term people tend to recognize and under which they are often sold If I start talking about crossing F1s of a gold blushing X gold marble, people's eyes start glazing because in general...no one cares lol |

| Re: Updated Pics ~ Freshwater Planted Aquarium Wow, NICE. Hey, you're selling Java Moss? Sheesh, I've been looking for that stuff for ages, but don't want to try to buy stuff online...How much are you selling it for, and how much would you send for a little tank (I've heard it grows like mad, so I wouldn't want too much...)? |

| Re: Updated Pics ~ Freshwater Planted Aquarium Well, the next 6 months or so are going to be interesting...I just got my dream tank, haha. Slightly used drilled 90 gal with solid walnut canopy and stand facades...this is going to be really fun!
The stand, still tied from travel:
Back of the Canopy and Stand, front of the Tank (the canopy was on backward here):
Kim realizing she looks small:
The whole kit-n-kaboodle in all it's glory, in the middle of the living room til I figure out where it's going to go: Quote:

I would have to see what the price of shipping is though, lol, because I have no idea. Quote:

And knowing me, it could take a bit before I am really satisfied with my choices. Fortunately I still have the lists I made up while shopping for my 29gal equipment around January so that will give me a good starting place.
If you look closely you can see nose prints on the glass from the 20 minutes or so it was on the ground here, lol...these dogs waste no time |

| Re: Updated Pics ~ Freshwater Planted Aquarium I like the canopy. I need to invest in one. I like the idea of doors on the front of it instead of and ackward hinged top. Which seem to be the only kind i see for sale anywhere.
Congrats on your find.... what you going to put in it???? |

Congrats on your find.... what you going to put in it???? | Yeah I love the canopy doors too...I think I will still need a small step stool to comfortably work on anything on the bottom though. Definitely better than leaning in the top, although since they top is removable I can do that too if the urge strikes, haha.
I haven't totally decided yet. The easy route would be to get like an Oscar, Jack Dempsey, and common Pleco and just have crazy big fish, gravel, and fake decor.
The more (most) rigorous option is to get Discus, a school or two of smaller fish, and do a natural biotope-type tank with plants and big twisted driftwood...kinda like my 29 gal but more in depth.
Whatever I end up doing, it's going to be fun |

| Re: Updated Pics ~ Freshwater Planted Aquarium Hi Shai! I was so jealous of your tank, we went and bought ours.. LOL! Just kidding, something terrible happened last night, like I told you on the chatroom today, so DH decided its time to give the fishes a bigger place to live. He spent all morning looking up used fish tank that we can readily afford at the moment. He got lucky and found one 90gallon tank up for sale for $500 including the stand and some other accessories for the tank. We even got a free fluval filter, which we may not use anyways..
here's our new tank, we just finished setting it up, we spent nearly 6 hours cleaning and transfering our old tank's water.
We didn't buy new plants yet.. I want to see which plants these bad boys are more likely to rip apart before we buy some.. LOL! So its pretty boring in the tank right now but at least, they have more space to swim around.. At the moment, it has 2 filters (the hanging type), 2 heaters, 2 air pumps and the light. 6 hrs of non stop cleaning.. its finally good to go..
