| So I've gone from one horse to two. Ferdinand Ferdinand is home. He came home on Wednesday. MY BIRTHDAY!!!
Still healing from the castration, but it's draining well and he's eating good.
Bree got sooooo excited. She started calling to him immediately and prancing around the paddock. I took him over to meet her and she (of course) tried to nip him on the nose through the fence. He just turned around and started to graze.
When we took him into the stable and she lost sight of him, the hissy fit she threw was truly TRULY impressive.
Bucking kicking rearing farting snorting screaming...
GIVE ME MY NEW TOY BACK!!!!
He seems to be adjusting well. Three more weeks and I should be able to turn them out together. (providing that she's not in season that week)

| Re: So I've gone from one horse to two. Ferdinand So, just got back from cleaning Ferdinand.
He is the most awesomest horse. Really. We washed the wound down really well with antibac soap and rinsed it well with purified water, (here comes the asshat part) at one point Juan was kneeling under him to be able to reach it properly. I told him to get out of there and that I'd take pics the next time to prove we really are horse safety idiots. I mean we really went to town and got off all the dried serum and scabs. It's draining well and one side is showing the tiniest bit of inflamation. All of the discharge is clearish red or yellow. No icky pus.
Anyhow, after he was all washed and rinsed, I took a clean dry cloth so I could dry around the wound and in between his legs before we put the wonder dust on...
Ferdinand was by this point totally relaxed, leg cocked letting we wipe his back legs dry. Then as I reached under his tail from behind, he shifted, and actually spread his back legs farther apart so I could get in there better. He did this not once but four times as I went from side to side moving the offside leg to widen the space so I could get the cloth and my hand in there properly. (between the scrotal sac and the leg) He UNDERSTANDS that we're not trying to hurt him.
I have completely lucked out with this totally fantabulous horse.
We also took a nice walk down the private road and I let him graze as we ambled along. (earlier) |

| Re: So I've gone from one horse to two. Ferdinand Ok, first off, congrats on the horse. He is a pretty boy. How old is he? Sorry if you posted it before, I didn't read all the last posts. I am so envious, I would kill to own a horse. It is seriously my only goal in life.
Eww, I didn't know they 'drained' after they were gelded....nice. and nice pee shots!
Give him some good groceries and he will fatten up and then of COURSE post more pics. I love pics. Even the random butterfly one, what a rare looking bug.
Your other horse is lovely too. She is probably happy to have a buddy. |

| Re: So I've gone from one horse to two. Ferdinand I knew it! I knew it! I remember your first thread about him and I knew he was going to be too good to pass up. He seems to be a wonderful horse! One that I would love to have. Congratulations on the new edition and I hope your 2 horses get to know each other and eventually get along well. |
