| Liesbet Rest in Peace Our family cat Liesbet, who lived with my father, died on Monday. She was 17 years old .
We could see her time was coming, but as she did not seem to be suffering we thought we could let her choose her own time to die. But the vet reckoned that she was suffering as she could no longer eat, and could hardly drink. I was sad because I was out of town for just that one day, and my father took her to the vet. So I could not be with her when she was put to sleep.
Oh well. She was a such a grand cat - a real queen. I remember when she was having kittens, I had to sit with her all the time otherwise she would follow me, and come and lie with me, even though she was in labor. She also used to call me to come and play hide and seek with her - she would run outside and then miaow loudly until I came looking for her. Then she would hide.
She left a snake on my father's bed once.
And put a shrew into the toe of his slipper...
my brother took this picture of her the last morning before she went. |
