| Texas got a bath today, new pictures Today was Texas's turn to get a bath. These pictures were taken after drying off. He is in the middle of another growth spurth, and his back end seems to be maturing faster then his front end LOL(gotta love all the awkward stages young ones go through). He is a 06' May baby.
Here is the big guy.
Standing tied to the trailer
Side shots
He was incredibly bored standing for pictures. The neighbors were working on their tractor, and of course, he was taking a look.

| Re: Texas got a bath today, new pictures Thanks Reno . He is my up and coming guy. I am so happy to have Rhiatta coming out of the 'young stage', only to have Texas right behind him! He is a well bred colt, Docs Malbec, Doc Bar, Zippo Pine Bar all on the papers. He definitely has a versatile pedigree. I know my trainer likes Docs Malbec bred horses, so I imagine he will enjoy this guy once he gets him. The downhill driveway sure didn't help in his already, butt high conformation, did it . His butt is almost the height of 16hh Charlie(right under him), the rest of him isn't so interested in catching up yet!

| Re: Texas got a bath today, new pictures RC, you have some really good looking horses! I love the butt in the air stages . Looks like you've got some great riding years ahead of you. What are your plans for Rhiatta and Texas? I forget what discipline you ride? I think out of all I tried Eventing ( the cross country part at least) and hunter paces were the funnest for me. Of course as I get older and bounce less, dressage is growing more appealing along with a leisurly trail ride |

| Re: Texas got a bath today, new pictures Thank you Marley, and Dmama
Dmama, Nothing huge planned for Rhiatta or Texas. I will be taking Rhiatta down to my barn to ride and take lessons on once he comes home. My other trainer(the one who has Rhiatta now), shows and trains Reiners, and I think Texas may have the conformation and ability to do that. Texas will be sent to be broke in the next week, week and a half(when I go to pick up Rhiatta, I am taking Texas down), just to put a few rides on him...and then he will sit out for another year to grow up. We will get a good idea on what he may excell at in the future at that point. He also has a lovely movement that I do think would do well in the HUS ring(he has the height as well).
I do WP, and Western Riding(where you do lead changes through a pattern).
I grew up riding and taking Dressage lessons(primarly on my mother's OTTB), but my passion has always been in the Western discipline. It is difficult to find a correct, and good Western barn, and I was lucky to find one that shows and trains both quite a few years ago.
I love to watch Eventing, but I don't have the, uh, heart to do it (literally, I don't have the confidence for jumping cross country...jumping in general!). I seriously respect anyone brave enough to do it! |

| Re: Texas got a bath today, new pictures Danielle, beautiful, seriously gorgeous.
How tall is he now? he's going to be a big boy. (ahem, if he disappears, don't look here)
IDK what was up with the DP...
I was going to add that jumping was always my fave fun thing. Course we didn't compete. It was usually following the foxhunts (fake) and we were ALWAYS bareback and ragtag. Really used to PO the hunters cause they were all pretty and groomed and wearing some really expensive gear. You don't need and expensive saddle to jump. Heck you don't need a saddle. We always had a blast.

| Re: Texas got a bath today, new pictures Chrissy, Thank you, I am really excited about this guy
I haven't measured him recently, but going off of what he use to be. I would say he is around 15.1hh in the front, and 15.3hh in the back. I may run out an measure him now, I am curious to see how much he has grown. He stringtested to finish out 15.3hh, 16hh...not bad for a horse out of a 15hh Dam and a 15.1hh Sire! His breeder thought he would be a 16hh horse, and he seems to be going in that direction. He is going to be a stout horse too, a tank all around.
As I was writing this post, Texas's breeder just sent me an email. His Dam just had a full brother end of June, a beautiful grey stud colt(at this point, he looks like he will grey). She is keeping him, and I hope to get continued updates on him as he grows. He reminds me of Texas at that age already.
Chrissy, the jumping you did sounds like an absolute blast!
Hopefully, you will have some new riding adventures soon if you find a good older horse for Brisa.
Chrisb, Thank you as well! LOL If your daughter ever gets the horse bug, no turning back! |

| Re: Texas got a bath today, new pictures I'm with SDO.
You are very lucky.
I would kill to own a horse!
And what sucks is I know where I could board a horse, where I'm at every day, and I've had the okay to do it too. But nooooooo, my parents don't like that idea.
Anyways... Texas is beau...HANDSOME!! I see how much bigger his rump is. xD It's cute. And his coloring. *insert drool smiley here* |

| Re: Texas got a bath today, new pictures Thank you everyone
I do feel lucky with Texas, really, lucky with all the horses. I wouldn't trade them in for anything!
Texas left today to the trainers, and Rhiatta came home. Tex will be down there just to be saddle broke, so when his real training starts in the next year or two he wont be as 'set in his way.' My trainer thought he was a "good lookin' dude."(LOL, I had to laugh with the way he kept saying it!). I can not wait to see how he does. |
