If its just a hang on the back filter, you could just add another one. The one that came with it may not really be large enough. You can get a decent one for less than 50 bucks that would typically work fine for a 55 gal tank. The 2 together should be fine for the golds. Goldfish also grow alot durring the first 2 years and then slow down. If your water needs changed that much, you may also be over feeding. Remember those little piggys will eat everything you put in there, but they only need a small amount of food.

Well i will admit to over feeding. This morning they got flakes and in the afternoon they will get some blood worms and tonight they will get lion head pellets. That's pretty much what they get every day, accept like tomorrow instead of blood worms they will get shrimp and on Saturdays they get peas.Oh and they love to eat the Algae Discs that i put in there for the algae eater.

I don't need to be told how to take care of my fishes.

I've had them for years, and I have had no problems.

You seem to be lecturing everyone on how they care for their fish. Give us a break. This is supposed to be a fun thread.

Thats funny Dulce as I thought I was much more polite with my correct advice than you are constantly with incorrect. Do any research on gold fish and you will see that your tank is too small for them to live long and prosper. They will stress being that confined.

Workingdog, with all that I'm suprised you don't have to change the water every day I know its fun to watch them eat, but just like us, too much food is bad, bad.

Hmm, and what advice would that be??

I don't need to listen to you. My Golfish are fine and have been for years.

Get over yourself

I'll admit that my first post was confrontational, I intended it to be so you could see how I for one, and others have felt about some of your opinionated post. That's really not important and I should not go there.

As for the fish, your logic about your fish being fine because you've kept them that way for years is not a valid argument. it would be like me saying, I keep my dogs crated 12 hours a day and that's fine because I've done it for years. We both know that would be bad even if I did it and felt it was fine. Just do a little internet research about goldfish and how much space they really need to be health, long lived fish and you'll see the advise I gave was correct.
