Re-did Chewie and Charlie's cage

I remodeled Chewie's and Charlie's cage, big time. Totally different. I like it, the only thing I don't like is that it ain't as big as before. But that's only temporary, until we are moved, once we are it'll be as big as before. Its still plenty big, just not as big as before. I also got new fleece, it was on sale and was only $4.50 per yd. I paid only $10.51 in all, including tax and the sour patch kids I bought. Well, here are pictures.

looks great! I was wondering, how well do guinea pigs bond with humans when they are raised properly and handled regularly? The only guinea pigs I know are skittish and nippy, but they were also raised by second graders in little pet store cage.

They will bond with humans, but not like a dog, cat, horse, etc. would. They are prey animals so they are easily spooked and are usually hard to catch, but most will be calm when you are holding and petting them. Most pigs don't nip unless they are being held wrong and are uncomfortable, or they have to go the the bathroom (they usually don't like to go in your arms) or they have some sort of skin infection and it hurts them to be petted or held.

Here's a video of my boys, its older but it shows sorta how they are socially. It don't have sound. Charlie also does a few mini popcorns in it (when he sorta kicks up his back legs)

I love Piggies! That cage you have is wonderful. I've been debating about whether or not to get a cage like that, but with Lucy being older....I'm just set on it yet. She has the largest commercial cage I could find (about 6 sq feet total), but I know that isn't near enough what she should have.
Once I get my own room again I'm going to block off an area of my room that can be hers so she can have more safe out of cage time.

I also thought about getting another Piggy for her company, but again, she's getting older and I don't want them to become bonded and then have her pass away. Besides that, I cannot find female Piggies for sale anywhere that I would buy from.

I had a previous Guinea Pig that wasn't very social outside of her cage, but when she was in her comfort zone she would talk and play and whistle at me.
Lucy is comfortable everywhere and if I walk into my room and she is out running around I'll say, "Oh, Guinea Pig!" and she'll "week" at me from wherever she is.

I love them. They are so much more intertaining and personable than your other average rodents.

They are so cute and their cage looks great!!! I used to have a Guinea Pig and he was by far the funniest and most socialible rodent pet I have ever had. He would start squeaking like crazy anytime anyone walked in the room. Unfortunetly My jack russell thought he was a squeaky toy so I had to give him to a friend for his on safety.

Everytime I look at your boys I think 'I want a pig.' Why must you do that to me??
My friend had 2 pigs one time, Billy Bob and Fred, she had them outside one day when her dad let their Springer and Crocker Spaniels out of their kennel... Their lab was already outside...and neither of the pigs survived out of that.

Heheh if you think that ones big you should see the old one here it is, and this what it'll be again when we get moved which will hopefully be soon.





As you can tell it took up most of my room, thats why I made it smaller...it made my room seem really small, when its not.
