Abandoning kitty rant

So my coworker I guess got this kitten a week or two ago and has been having problems with it using the litter box. It went potty on her bed or chair. So, she told me that they drove it down the street from her house and dropped it off at 4am the other morning.

WHAT?!?! This made me soooo upset!! I asked her why she didn't bring it to a shelter and she said "Yea, not happening. There are no shelters open at 4am and we wanted to get rid of it right then" DOUBLE WHAT?!?!? You can't wait until 8am, a short 4 more hours, to drive it to a shelter?!?

I said that it probably got ran over or eatten and she said "nah, we dropped it off in an old lady's yard, she has lots of cats. It'll be fine" Yeah....ok!!!! The lady probably didn't get up until 6, and probably didn't go outside until 7 (at the earliest)...2-3 hours is a lot of time for something to happen to a kitten!!!

This just makes me so upset!!! First of all, you accepted the responsibility of owning a pet when you decided to take it. You should have thought about the time and effort it takes to have/raise an animal BEFORE you get one.

Secondly, IT IS A LIVING, BREATHING THING!! It is not a shirt that you don't like anymore so you throw it away!! It has feelings, needs...food and shelter are two of them!! And preferably love also. A kitten will get none to little of those essential needs when it's a stray.

AND, they want to get a dog! A neglected, abused dog!!! IMHO, dogs are way harder than cats are. You have to train them to go potty outside, obedience train them, etc etc. I've heard they are especially hard when they have been ill-treated...you have to gain their trust and love, not an easy thing to do, takes lots of time. I just hope they don't abondone this one as well.....

All I can do is pray (yes I really do pray for animals, God loves them too) that this old lady or someone else found this kitten and will care for it properly.

No, but they want kids! That was another point I thought of that I forgot to post. Babies go potty in places they're not suppost to way longer than kittens do!!! Kitties can be taught, sometimes it takes awhile, but it's possible to use the litter box in a short amount of time. Children can be 3 or 4 before they stop having accidents, sometimes older!! Are they going to drop their kids off at the old lady's house when they potty on the floor, bed, and their clothes?!?!?!?!

Ugh. This makes me sick.

Here I am trying to catch some stray/feral kittens for the past almost month (got two, the rest are missing now), and this bleephole is dumping them off.
