| baby bunny pictures and update! Today the baby bunnies are 2 weeks old, and I decided to finally take a few pictures (with the flash off, I don't want to hurt their eyes.)
They began opening their eyes earlier in the week, and yesterday they all had their eyes open.
They run around a lot at night time... I took Tiffera out last night and I thought Speckle had been freaking out, but no... the babies were just running everywhere. Lol
So anyways... they look really healthy to me, very chubby. Their eyes look a little red, but I'm thinking that's because they just opened them a few days ago... what do you guys think?
more pictures coming up... |

MilkyWay is his/her name. XD
end of pictures.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that all the babies left the nest and moved to the box I had put in there a while ago... They still go into the nest sometimes, but they seem to like the box more. |

| Re: baby bunny pictures and update! 3 weeks and RUNNING around like crazy bunnies.
Today was mass clean up of the rabbit shed so they are a bit confused now to get better pics of them up (finally was able to disturb the nest as they dont even go near it anymore.
What kind are yours?
These are "meat" rabbits... (saw the parents for sale in the local paper and couldnt bear the fact of what was to come for them... so... we now have 15 potentially preggo rabbits ) |

I'm not sure what kind of rabbits mine are... certainly not meat rabbits though.
The parents were given to me by our backyard neighbors... they were from an "oops" litter. Sadly, I wasn't able to separate my rabbits in time, and one of them got pregnant... (you can read about it in this thread http://www.dogforums.com/7-off-topic...o-annoyed.html (so annoyed...))
BTW, do you know how old they have to be before we can hold them? I'm dying to get into the cage and clean all that poop out. |

| Re: baby bunny pictures and update! I have been holding these guys for almost a week now. It really depends on the mother.
Once they can move around on their own, you're pretty safe though. Just watch 'cause they get terribly frightened and are really fast jumpers. You wouldnt want one jumping out of your hands or worse yet, getting so scared that they die (not sure if it would happen but the first few times you pick them up their little hearts start racing)
You should be good to clean the poop out now though, I just emptied the whole rabbit shed and put in more hay today so their nest is now gone, but they have all found a new corner and momma bun went and layed with them. |

Yeah, I've noticed that they're fast jumpers... They do it without warning too, they could be just standing there in the cage cleaning themselves, and then all of a sudden they're flying threw the air and landing on the other side of the cage.
Tomorrow I will be cleaning that cage then! It's gotten really gross...
I've been telling my siblings NOT to put their hands in the cage or get too close, or make any loud noises, because I don't want anything bad to happen. The mom is pretty laid back though... And also, there is an upstairs to their cage, so if I ever need to take the babies out, I can do it when the mom is upstairs eating. Quote:

You must be so proud | Thanks! I guess I am a little proud, but mostly relieved that the bunnies made it to be 2 weeks old, and happy that they're so chubby and healthy looking. I guess I can say I am proud of the mom, Speckle, though. She's been a very good mother. |

I love it when animals sleep on their backs, so cute I had a runt of the litter when I was in highschool that slept on his back almost all the time. He was sweet |

| Re: baby bunny pictures and update! Cute, Kiira -- any plans for finding homes for the litter? (for clarity, that's not criticism, just wondering, lol)
They look cute and healthy -- seems like you guys are doing a great job.
For handling them, if the mother's fine with it you should be able to at least pet them gently, and pick them up as long as you wash your hands beforehand and don't overdo it. It wouldn't hurt them to get used to a little mild petting and handling. Whether your siblings can handle them...well you know better than me how rough/gentle they are.
Good luck! |

| Re: baby bunny pictures and update! Thanks everyone for looking at the pictures!
Shaina - Yes, I am. I've been asking everyone I know if they want one. So far, my sister's boyfriend says he's going to take one, and my older brother is going to take one. I still have more people to ask... there's one guy I know who really loves rabbits who might take one... If I can't find homes for all of them I might end up going to the shelter with them and having the people there help me find homes for them (I volunteer at the shelter too.) |
