No more Minnie Munchkins

If you read my other threads you would know I found a rabbit and was very excited to keep it. I really loved having that little bunny.I thought he was getting better when I started giving him his medicine and his tilt head went away but then his skin started scabbing up on one side of his body.
I took him to the vet today and she said he had Peturill(or something like that) Well it was very sad and disgusting. In a matter of a day the scabs went from just ordinary looking scabs to being open woulds. She pulled one of the scabs off and discovered a big hole in his face! This bacteria has eaten through his sinuses and bone and is making it's way to the other side of his face and eventually up to his brain. She said he is too far gone to ever get better. She's worked with bunnies for over23 years and even cases less severe the rabbits are not saved or never get better.

So he was put down. My poor little baby bunny. I will miss him.

Oh she said this is pretty common in rabbits and some are even carriers and some are possibly born with it.

Re: No more Minnie Munchkins

Thanks Mdawn.
Now I have a bunny cage, a big bag of hay, two bags of food and a bag of bedding. I guess I will donate it to the shelter this weekend.
This sucks.

Aww LMH, I'm sorry. You tried, and that's all any of us can do.

Oh no...poor bunny! I'm so sorry for your loss. LMH, you did a wonderful thing taking in that bunny and making his last days so wonderful.

This is heart wrenching as I hold a spot near to my heart for bunnies.

Binky free little one.

Re: No more Minnie Munchkins

Thanks everyone. I know I only had him for 2 weeks and I do feel better knowing he was loved for those two weeks and cuddled and stuff instead of outside somewhere to die alone of this horrible disease he had. I keep forgeting he's not here and I came home today thinking I had to feed him.
Well I'm glad he's not in anymore discomfort.
