Other PetsEven though this is Dog Forums, not everyone can limit thier love to just dogs. This is your outlet to talk about other pets you may have or want and questions about them!
wow she IS growing!! way to go chrissy, she looks wonderful!!
I wish I could smell her too, LOL! Horses smell so good, and babies always have that certain extra special smell to them too. I especially love when they're really young and have that really soft fur-like coat.
Thanks Annamarie. She's losing the fluffy coat and her new one is coming in good. She tried to kick Juan this morning. I really need to get her some company and get her some more room to move in. Working on it.
The one thing I miss most about riding is being around the horses and getting my daily dose of their horsey goodness. I love the smell too.
Not sure how I missed this thread...lol!! Anyway...
Chrissy she looks wonderful!!! Amazing what loving care will do.
Reno...I totally am with you there...I showed a friend's horse this weekend, and had been to the Horse Expo the previous weekend and just really really missed my horse; even though I was surrounded by horses...I just miss seeing my own boy every day
I hear ya... I tried leasing a horse after I gave all mine away and it's just not the same if it's not your horse. I think it was the bond that I missed most.
Ok, well before anyone else had to start another thread...
PICS I have PICS!
A farrier (or more accurately, a guy whos sometimes works on horses feet) came out today, to look at Bree's feet, even out anything that needed evening and give as a good base to work with as we're going to be trimming her ourselves with the occasional visit. I was VERY impressed with him. His name is Allyson. He had all the time in the world for Bree and let her take breaks when she would lose patience, and really only had to trimm a little off the frog, and put a roll on the front.
He gave her feet an A+ and said she will probably NEVER need shoes as long as she gets good excercise and nutrition.
He came well recommended, by a guy I was visiting in my search for horse #2. As he works with his horses every day on his ranch, I figured he probably was giving good advice. Not to mention his cutting stallion had really well done feet and was beautifully muscled.
Turns out he ALSO has some horses for sale and trains too. I'm going up to look at what he has.
Any how, here's Bree.
These first four were taken yesterday.
I'm uploading more right now and a vid I took of her feeling her oats after this mornings bath.
lol... that's how I ended up with horse #2 many years ago. saw this skinny old mare with a twinkle in her eye and just couldn't pass her up. she ended up being one of the best horses I ever owned, probably the best riding-wise.
The above were all horses at a riding stable *apparently* for training people to show jump. I didn't actually ask about them. Perhaps(hopes) they're "recently rescued".
Below is some cared for horses I saw in Spanish Lookout.
