| Cockatiels can learn a few words. You want to repeat the same word over and over again in a high, happy voice. Give it time, it won't happen overnight. BTW, they also will learn to imitate a ringing phone and a dog whistle. Just a few other fun things to teach them. One I had s a kid could do all those and barked like a dog, meowed like a cat, Whistled "Dixie", said "Hello", "Goodbye", "Sweetiepie" and about 20 other words. |

| Is your Cockatiel a male or a female? Female Cockatiels genrally can't learn how to say words. Males are quite the talkers though. Funny. Normally isn't it the other way around? :P
Whenever you are spending time with our 'Teil, say the same word over and over and over and over and always say it in the same tone/pitch. They should eventually catch on. Whistles are also easier for them to learn that words.
I've taught my 'Teil, Joey, to wolf whistle, whistle "The Phantom of the Opera" theme song, and to whistle the theme song for Purdue (All hail to old Purdue....). I'm trying to think of what other song I want him to learn! lol I'm thinking about Davey Crokette....lol Or maybe that one theme song...oh what was it...it was an old TV show with two cops..."duh duh duh DUH duh duh duh DUH do da do di da...." Oh this is going to bug me.... |
