| Cats have a mind of their own... i definately know that cats are very independent. i should know... because i have more the ten! i have about 12 - 20 cats, and they all have one thing in commmon: they are all very dignifide and independent!
cats... unlike dogs... have a certain look upon life. Dogs will go with whatever they have, and cats will seek for something that siuts their liking. But not all cats are so self centered like what most people think. I have a 15 pound Tom Cat, and his name is Taylor. He was born in my parents closet, and his mom was very loyal, just like him. I love my cats, but Taylor is the one that stands out the most.
He's about 3 years old, and I've only seen him mad once. And even then, he was a sucker for a cute face. He sleeps with my dog, and they are the best of friends. My dog use to be a cat killer until Taylor came along.
i love cats just as much as i do dogs, because they move me just as much. |

| Re: Cats I actually have my dog because of my cat. Sinatra loves dogs, and when my roommate moved out with her dog, Sinatra was heartbroken-so was I. So we went back to the shelther where Sinatra came from, I rescued a crazy, chicken chasin', digger dog who was only 6-8 mos. old and in the shelther for the 3rd-4th time. Since I live in the city, the only thing we had to deal with, was block fence holes re-teaching Princess to do her business outside. She and Sinatra are best buds, and I wouldn't trade them for anything-even when "Tra rips on the furniture and I have to chase Princess for a mile in the summer heat. |

| Re: Cats In my house we have 3 cats and 3 dogs. We used to have 3 cats and 1 stray kitten. The kitten wouldn't ever let any of us near her. We even set a live trap but she was too smart for it! Anyway, I haven't seen her lately and assume the worst. If she just would have trusted us enough we would have taken care of her; spayed, shots, everything....Anyway, now we are down to 3 and I love them JUST as much as my dogs. I accept both for what they are. Dogs are Dogs and Cats are Cats. I like dogs for the playing and roughhousing. They are so much fun. I like the cats for the cuddling and sitting together watching T.V. Cats are relaxing. I'm a cat person just as much as a dog person. |

| Re: Cats I dont really like cats in general most are to independent but I love both of my cats to bits. I have 2 black cats Hankie Pankie George and Angelle. Hank is a beautiful black and gray sable he is a "typical cat" and stays to himself, he loves to travel. Angelle is a DLH who's jet black and a real sweetie she follows me around like a dog and is a big talker. |

| Re: Cats I love kitties - I have a Himalayan and he never bites or scratches. He runs away from strangers, but loves people once he gets to know them. Cats are more intellegent than dogs. That comment can not be justified on the fact that Fido knows how to sit. My cat knows one trick - if I say "kissies!" he'll tap his nose lightly on my forehead. (this is how he gives kisses) Cats are very affectionate! |

Hmmmm...I have had cats that retrieve, dance, and other fun tricks...so I don't think they are untrainable; you just gotta know how to convince a cat that you are worth their time.
I don't deny that cats are highly independent and not usually as affectionate as dogs, however, try telling my three love doves that; The first thing that happens when you get home here, is that when you sit on the couch, you are wrapped in cats; one likes to sit directly behind ya on the back of the couch for a while (watching the computer screen), the other two take residence on either side of ya...they will lay with you forever! Our cats also like to sleep with us; sometimes all three of them will lay on me!
I love cats, simply because they have a more 'free attitude' in the sense that they don't strictly live for us humans like their canine counterparts do and they have antics all their own that make them just as fun to own as dogs. Not many dogs I know will chase a laser pointer till they are panting and you have to put the pointer away to make them stop! Such a simple device, but it provides so much entertainment here! I also like the simple fact that a cat won't go to you unless he really wants attention...makes me feel loved by my feline friends!!! Canines love you regardless, but cats make you earn their affection...not sure why I love that more, but if I had to live with only one type of pet for any reason, I would have to have cats. |

| Re: Cats I have 6 cats. I do love cats just as much as dogs, but for different reasons. Cats are easier. I couldn't possibly have 6 dogs, I'd go crazy. Dogs are more like kids. I'm always suspicious of people who say they don't like cats.....they're always the one who feel justified in poisoning their neighbor's cat, or shooting strays for "fun", or dumping their daughter's cat's unwanted kittens in the ditch for me to find (or for no one to find ), etc. So, yeah, I respect and enjoy all forms of life. I may not wish to handle all forms of life, but I can enjoy them from afar. |

| Re: Cats I like cats. I don't really care for their self worth. It amuses ME to play with them, so I do. You won't find a begging or annoying cat in this house! The magic to stopping annoying kitten behaviors is ignoring them!
I have two cats and one dog. They love each other. |

| Re: Cats I shouldn't get a cat for the same reason I shouldn't get a border collie: there's a good chance they are smarter than me, and manipulative enough to take advantage of that
Seriously though, I grew up with cats...though I will probably never get one of my own I don't have anything against them. My parents dog would always chase the two barn cats away from the house when we were outside..but as soon as he thought we weren't looking he would let them climb all over them and you could usually find them all sleeping together.
For the record, we did not encourage the dog to chase the cats away from the house...he took that upon himself. |
