RIP Star & Little Squirt.

Last Thursday one of my baby mice, Star, passed away. She had been sick for a few days as mice usually are near the end of their lives. She was one of 3 babies that I hand reared when their mother died when they were 12 days old. Her sister, Fluffy died earlier last year. Star would have been 2 yrs old on Feb 23rd. Then yesterday, their father, Little Squirt, passed away too. He was 2yrs 3 mths. I have one left my baby, Spikey, the last of my little babies.
I hope to find a mate for Spikey. They were the grandkids of my 1st mouse Smudge & I want to keep the line going.
I miss them both, but mice have such short little lives.

Re: RIP Star & Little Squirt.

Yeah...most mice do have short life spans; my first mouse didn't though! I got Whiskers when he was about 3 months old, and he lived a long 5 years!!! My other mice lived the 'usual' age, but I used them for breeding fancy mice then; I had some really pretty colors too...

Our first pet rats, Dan and Kirby lived 6 and 7 years... My other rats usually lived about 4 years.

I haven't had as much luck with hamsters and gerbils though...the longest I have had a hammy live is 3 years, and gerbils, I think is 4. I have two gerbils right now, and they are doing really well at 2 years old...so we will see!
