Anyone ever owned a Javelina/Peccary?

I've decided to switch my Peccary Penny to a more natural diet and I'm thinking of using the same Homecooked that I've been giving the dogs except cooking the beef for her. Peccaries are artiodactyls so they're in the same family tree as cow's, deer, pigs, etc. But from Personal experience here they seem to be a little more of an omnivore, opportunity wise. I've seen her go after birds and she'll eat a lizard if she can catch one.

What I'm feeding the dogs is a base of beef and oats balanced with bone meal and nutritional yeast. I thought I'd give her some of that and them cut it with some fresh veggies carrots, celery, sweet potato, taro root, etc anyone have any experience feeding animals from this family?

Wink Re: Anyone ever owned a Javelina/Peccary?

Well the food went over well last night. Not so much the lettuce but I just mixed it into the oats and voila! It may make her stool a little softer but I think she'll adjust ok. She grazes all day in the yard and eats Craboo fruit that falls off the trees in my yard so fruit and fiber are not unknown in her digestive system. She's going to be twelve in March. I'll try and get some pics. MY computer cpu fan crapped out so I'm using my Mum's computer and can't access any of my older pics.
