| Not a BOY! My ferret Slinky is a girl! I can't believe it took me this long to find out! When I got him (HER!) she was 7 weeks old, and when I asked the lady if she knew the sex, she felt the belly and said "boy". I stupidly assumed she knew what she was talking about, until about a week ago I started to question it, since my best friend's ferret has outgrown Slinky by about two pounds, and they are the same age. So I did five minutes research on the web and found out I have a girl! Boy, do I feel dumb for not doing that six months ago! Turns out Slinky lacks the "belly button" that gives away male ferrets (*not* a belly button, BTW) and upon closer inspection, I confirmed it. Good thing I didn't name her Bill, huh? |

| Re: Not a BOY! Oops. lol I have to say though, I like female ferrets a wee bit better than the males. They aren't as stinky.
Do you have any pictures of your fert? |

| Re: Not a BOY! There is one in my profile of her in the dishwasher. I have to be sure to only load it when she is in her cage or she will hop inside ! |

| Re: Not a BOY! OMG the same thing happened to my guinea pig!!!
I bought a guinea pig, and the lady said it was a male. I took "Him" home and named "him" Oreo. Then, I babysat my best friend's male guinea pig. They were playing in a blow up pool (with out water ) and they did some sort of mating behavior!! I was so shocked that I called my friend and we double checked, Oreo was a girl! It's a good thing she didn't get pregnant. |

| Re: Not a BOY! Oh, how cute! Slinky looks just like my female ferret, Casey. Casey's favorite thing to do is raid my sister's stuffed animals. She'll hop inside the hamper and drag them away one by one. LOL |

| Re: Not a BOY! I love the little thieves! We have an old antique lamp that has crystals hanging off of it, and almost everday I have to hunt one down because Slinky has run off and hid it! I'm having a hard time thinking "she", though. I have been thinking "he" for six months! |

| Re: Not a BOY! LOL ~ I have a rescue Cockatoo. Didn't know the sex, but I name all my crits after musicians. So I named he/she Stevie. Thought it would either be Stevie Ray, or Stevie Nicks ~ LOL
A few months later, I had a DNA test done. He turned out to be "Stevie Ray". So instead of dancing to Fleetwood Mac, we are "Walkin' the tight-rope" ~ LOL |

| Re: Not a BOY! Reminds me of when a friend of mine got her female rabbit. She named her bunny Five after a character (I believe) and talked to Five as a girl.
Eventually, she came to learn that her bunny had become Tranny-Five as she grew testicles and ..well...Male XD It was pretty funny. |
